Dr Richard Cooke is a Consultant Medical Microbiologist and Honoury Senior Lecturer in Medical Microbiology based at University Hospital Aintree. Since moving to Liverpool in 2003, he has taken a keen interest in developing the national sero-diagnostic service for brucellosis based at Aintree. He has also overseen the introduction of rapid molecular tests for the diagnosis of tuberculosis. Other clinical interests include sepsis in the critically ill, bone and joint infection and hospital infection control.
