I worked in the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine as a veterinary parasitologist for 20 years before coming to Leahurst as Professor of Farm Animal Medicine in 1976. I retired in 1996. I have worked on parasites of domesticated and wild animals and on parasitic zoonoses, especially hydatid disease and fasciolosis. I am also interested in sheep medicine particularly abortion caused by Chlamydophila and Toxoplasma.
I have worked in Kenya, Zambia, Libya, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Trinidad and Tobago.
In recent years, I have revived an interest in Histomonas meleagridis, a protozoan parasite of gallinaceous birds and studied their immune responses along with collaborators at IAH, Compton.
Very recently, I have started dabbling with mosquitoes in the Neston area and have carried out a survey of the local species.
