Anna Garcia graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zaragoza University, Spain in 1997. She continued doing research in the Genetics Department at Zaragoza Veterinary School for a few months and then collaborated in a research project on PCR amplification and cloning of two metallothionein complementary DNAs at Reading University (UK) in 1998. She worked as an Official Veterinarian in the area of Veterinary Public Health in the UK until 2000 when she went to New Zealand for a short time as a veterinary surgeon in a mixed practice. She collaborated in a research project on identification of genes involved in phosphorus absorption at USDA, in 2001. She worked as a Local Veterinary Inspector for DEFRA during the foot and mouth crisis in 2001. In 2002, she developed a project designing a centre for artificial insemination (goats) and embryo transfer for the Ministry of Agriculture in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands). She came back to the UK and worked as an Official Veterinarian for a few months in 2003 until she started working as the Registrar in Veterinary Public Health (VPH) at Glasgow University, teaching VPH in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and dealing with VPH cases. She completed a Masters degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education at Glasgow University. She is now working as a lecturer in Veterinary Public Health at Liverpool University.
