Bio:

Nicola graduated in 1994 with a honours degree in Microbiology at the University of Liverpool. She the undertook postgraduate research at the Faculty of Veterinary Science on Clostridium perfringens and colic in horses and was awarded her Ph.D in 1999. She then spent two year in industry working as a microbiologist before returning to the Vet Faculty to do research.
Nicola has worked on projects investigating the epidemiology of enteric pathogens in cattle, antibiotic resistance in wildlife and currently on the role of wildlife as reservoirs of enteric pathogens. Other research interests include the molecular epidemiology of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in animals and maintenance of antibiotic resistance.
